Vice President, Strategic Philanthropy and Advisor Engagement

Position Overview
The VP of Strategic Philanthropy and Advisor Engagement will play a critical role in shaping and executing our advancement strategy during this exciting time of transformation. The ideal candidate will present and implement charitable giving strategies to clients and prospects based on their goals and circumstances while identifying and building relationships with professional advisor referral sources. They will serve as the relationship manager for a segment of The Foundation’s clients and prospects and join the team as a member of The Foundation leadership.
This position reports to the Executive Vice President.
Key Responsibilities
Account Acquisition, Funding, and Stewardship
- Cultivate and solicit high net worth Jewish philanthropists, including current clients, future prospects, and referrals from professional advisors
- Meet with prospects, clients, and their advisors to assess their charitable tax and estate planning needs, and overall philanthropic goals and aspirations
- Elevate clients’ philanthropic giving through family engagement, and personalized strategic plans, often in conjunction with their professional advisors
- Explain and respond to client/prospect questions relating to The Foundation’s Donor Advised Fund and Endowment Agreements, and applicable guidelines, processes and procedures
- Communicate and follow up with clients and other internal Foundation departments to facilitate creation of new accounts, account funding, and client onboarding
- Write articles and prepare and give presentations on charitable planning ideas and strategies to relevant audiences
Professional Advisors
- Build a strategy and timeline to network with and engage approximately 100 professional advisor referral sources
- Educate professional advisors regarding charitable giving strategies and promote The Foundation’s products and services
- Design and manage events and programs to strengthen and expand The Foundation’s ties to existing and new professional advisor referral sources
Complex Asset Gifts Program
- Promote complex asset gifts to advisors, clients, and prospects
- Manage related key relationships with lay leaders, professionals, and vendors
- Assist The Foundation’s in-house General Counsel in assessing and administering complex asset gifts to The Foundation
- Update internal guidelines and procedures as needed
- Assist The Foundation’s marketing department in creating and executing a strategy regarding complex asset gifts
Core Competencies and Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a professional advisor (attorney or wealth manager), including building client relationships, is required
- Law degree and membership in the California State Bar is preferred
- Experience advising clients regarding charitable or financial strategies preferred
- Experience networking with professional advisors preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of charitable planning strategies required
- Knowledge of the Los Angeles Jewish community preferred
- Ability to inspire confidence and create trust with clients, prospects, and professional advisors
- Experienced project management and strategy skills
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of detailed information
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to meet goals in a timely and effective manner
- Understanding of human resources and personnel management
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar software
