ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

The Los Angeles Jewish Home (the Home) is one of the largest single-source providers of senior care in the Los Angeles area, serving more than 5,000 seniors annually. Its in-residence facilities support seniors at all stages of life.

GRANT PURPOSE

The Brandman Centers for Senior Care—Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE): PACE provides a complete range of health, social and nutritional services for nursing home-eligible seniors who wish to live safely in their own homes or with family members. Over 250 frail elderly seniors are enrolled in PACE. This grant will enable staff to take resources to these seniors who, due to COVID, are unable to come into the facility for services.

On behalf of our residents and the dedicated staff who care for them, I’d like to express deep appreciation to the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles for this generous grant. We have always been thankful for the outstanding support provided by The Foundation over the years. Never has this generosity been more valued than during the current unprecedented pandemic. No one could have predicted the extraordinary costs associated with meeting the emergency needs of the seniors entrusted to our care throughout the past year. This grant ensures we will be able to continue providing the highest quality medical care despite the challenges of COVID-19. In addition, it enabled us to purchase items such as personal protective equipment including surgical masks, medical gowns, N95 face masks, and gloves. It also made a crucial difference in keeping residents active, while maintaining social distancing, by allowing us to purchase communications equipment such as cell phones, iPads, and other electronic devices – enabling us to provide a sense of normalcy during these extraordinary times.
