ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1911, The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles identifies and funds a broad range of Jewish social service, educational and humanitarian programs. It works to foster a sense of common Jewish purpose; strengthen Jewish constituencies in order to enhance Jewish identity; meet critical human needs in a Jewish context; and strengthen bonds with Jewish people worldwide. Its three strategic initiatives are (1) Ensuring the Jewish Future, (2) Caring for Jews in Need and (3) Engaging in our Community.
GRANT PURPOSE
The grant will support the Jewish Federation’s COVID-19 relief efforts directed toward nonprofit organizations supporting the most vulnerable segments of the Jewish community locally and in Israel. The program complements efforts being undertaken by The Foundation and will encompass four critical human and social services areas. These include funding for wellness and resiliency; access to food through synagogues; financial aid and scholarships for early-childhood and day-school education to families impacted by COVID-19; and a loan-guarantee program.
