Position Summary

The Senior Advancement Officer is responsible for establishing, managing, and deepening relationships with high-net-worth individuals; clients and prospects. The ideal candidate is a proven fundraiser or business development professional and change agent with experience in client acquisition, managing high net worth relationships and active referral networks.  The candidate must have a proven track record of building and sustaining robust client pipelines through personalized, superior stewardship. Skilled in leveraging data and CRM tools, the candidate will focus on acquiring new clients, optimizing client retention and prospecting for new clients with significant philanthropic capacity.  This position reports to the Vice President of Advancement and will partner with the Advancement and Philanthropy teams and the broader Foundation staff to enhance the client experience and drive impact. The candidate must be passionate about Jewish Los Angeles, Israel, and the broader community.

 

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising, Donor Engagement, and Client Services

  • Cultivate and manage a portfolio of ~200 clients, donors, prospects, and referral sources.
  • Develop philanthropic strategies for clients in alignment with their goals, including recognizing opportunities for planned giving and complex asset contributions.
  • Ensure personalized, strategic cultivation and stewardship to strengthen long-term donor relationships throughout the full lifecycle—from initial outreach and account opening through advisory services and legacy planning.
  • Utilize CRM to track progress, manage donor portfolio, and report on key performance indicators related to major gifts
  • Introduce clients to The Foundation’s philanthropy advisors and other Foundation products and services.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fundraising, business development, or high-level client relationship management.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ advising clients on charitable or financial strategies preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in the Los Angeles Jewish community is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with sophisticated CRM platforms is preferred.

  • Strong strategic thinking and project management ability.
  • Confidence and diplomacy when working with high-net-worth individuals and professional advisors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and client database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, creative, and adaptable to a dynamic philanthropic environment.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Some local or Los Angeles area travel may be required to setup meetings and participate in events.
  • Flexible work environment with hybrid work schedule.
  • Salary: $125,000 – $175,000 depending on skill sets, years of experience, training, certifications, and degrees earned. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range unless they exceed most of the job qualifications.
