BIO

As a member of The Foundation’s Investment Committee, I have helped maintain a disciplined investment process which has produced good investment results.  As a trustee, I am most proud to play a role in furthering The Foundation’s work in assisting Jewish philanthropists to be more effective and more strategic.

Eugene Stein is president of the Tikun Olam Foundation (a support organization of the Jewish Community Foundation) which promotes early childhood mental health and the prevention of child neglect.  He serves on the Boards of Pitzer College (formerly board chair), the Los Angeles Opera, and Zero To Three: National Center for Infants, Toddlers and Families. Gene is the former vice chairman and director of Capital Strategy Research, a unit of the Capital Group Companies, a global investment management company.  He was also senior vice president of Capital World Investors, and a director of Capital Research and Management Company. Mr. Stein received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from UCLA and his master’s of business administration from Harvard University. He and his wife, Mindy, live in La Canada and they have three children and four grandchildren.
