Thursday, November 30, 2017

LOS ANGELES—The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) today announced that it has hired Ellen R.Z. Rosen as general counsel. Rosen succeeds Susan C. Mattisinko, who held the position since 2012 and is now the executive director of a private family foundation.

Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Marvin I. Schotland stated: “We are pleased to welcome Ellen Rosen to the senior management team. She possesses a broad, deep background in trust and estates law, as well as individual and fiduciary taxation and reporting that will serve our stakeholders and The Foundation well. To Susan Mattisinko, we offer our sincere gratitude for her innumerable contributions during the past five years and extend best wishes as she embarks on the next stage of her career.”

Rosen will primarily work on supporting The Foundation’s more than 300 endowment funds and help to grow endowments and other charitable giving funds. Rosen was previously a partner with CohnReznick LLP, a national accounting firm, providing advisory services to clients in the areas of gift and estate planning, income taxation of individuals and trusts, and the formation of private foundations and other nonprofits. Earlier, she was a senior attorney in the trust and estate practice group with the Am Law 50 firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. She transitioned to Sheppard Mullin from a “Big Four” accounting firm, where she offered planning and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals and nonprofit entities.

Admitted to practice in California, Rosen earned her J.D. degree at the USC Gould School of Law. She was conferred a B.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and holds an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. Rosen is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and the California Bar Association.
