2024 High Holiday and Sukkot Grantmaking

As we enter the holiday season, The Foundation is proud to support extraordinary programs that foster meaningful impact across the Jewish community.

 

2024 High Holiday Grant Recipients

In honor of the High Holidays, The Foundation is making grants that 1) provide meals for hungry families In Israel and 2) empower Jews locally and worldwide to create innovative, vibrant, and personally meaningful holiday experiences.

 

Israel

Latet: Grant to deliver food packages to low-Income households.

Leket Israel: Grant to rescue fresh produce and provide meals to families.

Yad Eliezer: Grant to supply holiday meals and food vouchers to families.

Yad Ezra V’Shulamit: Grant to supply large holiday food baskets to families.

 

Los Angeles

Custom and Craft: Grant to Recustom, a free platform that enables community members to access a variety of rituals and blessings, and curate their own High Holiday experience.

 

2024 Sukkot Grant Recipients

Our 2024 holiday grantmaking in honor of Sukkot focuses on projects locally and In Israel that 1) nurture meaningful connections within the Jewish community and 2) connect the themes of environmental stewardship and Judaism.

This year, we are supporting The Sukkah Project, a large-scale community sukkah designed by multidisciplinary artist Jonathan York that is on display at the Skirball Cultural Center October 8 – November 3.

We are also supporting the below portfolio of initiatives:

 

Israel

Good Energy Initiative:  Grant to plant shade trees, reduce landfill waste, and offset The Foundation’s carbon footprint.

 

Los Angeles

Adamah: Grant to empower people to build a more sustainable world through immersive experiences, youth empowerment, collective action, and community building.

City Greens Community Farm: Grant to promote sustainability, environmental stewardship, and population health through the platform of an educational urban farm.

Jewish Solar Challenge: Grant to facilitate the installation of Solar Power Systems for Jewish institutions.

Partnership for Growth LA: Grant to support Freedom Farms, a program that invests in urban farms in South and West LA in coordination with local master farmers to support healthy eating in the community.

Shalom Institute: Grant to support Shemesh Farms, a social enterprise that employs adults with disabilities to tend to gardens and develop herb blends, honey, and other products for sale.
