Supporting Economic Development, Economic Self-Sufficiency and Hebrew/Jewish Identity
The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles is committed to addressing critical social and economic issues facing Israelis living in Israel. The Foundation's Israel Grants are awarded only for programs that are able to have a dramatic impact in the following areas:
- Economic Development and Economic Self-Sufficiency
- Hebrew/Jewish Identity
If you are proposing an education program, it must have a broad reach and a direct impact on either economic development, economic self-sufficiency or Hebrew/Jewish identity.
Award Levels
Award levels are not pre-established but generally range between $150,000 - $250,000 over a two to three-year grant period.
Program Deadlines
2010 timeline is currently under review.
Application Process
If you would like to receive a concept paper application form, please email grants@jewishfoundationla.org and specify briefly:
a) the mission of your organization,
b) the name and a brief description of the program for which you wish to apply for a grant, and
c) the expected impact of the program.
If your proposal idea is eligible for an Israel Grant, you will be forwarded a concept paper application form.
Israel Grants Eligibility Checklist
If you can answer "YES" to ALL of these questions, your program may be eligible for an Israel Grant.
- Does your program dramatically impact economic development, economic self-sufficiency or Hebrew/Jewish identity?
- Does your program identify possible funding sources in Israel that are committed to seeding and/or sustaining the program?
- Are there well-articulated and achievable short-term objectives that will result in meaningful impact on the target community?
- Does your program have the potential to create long-term benefit and transformation for Israeli society beyond the term of the grant period?
- Is there a plan for sustainability once the grant period is complete?
