With more than 20 years of experience in finance and nonprofit management, I know first-hand the responsibility community foundations have to be accountable to their board, donors, and community. The Foundation is a leader in this area and I’m proud to continue that legacy.
David Carroll, senior vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer, joined The Foundation in 2015. He brings to this position a diverse background in finance and operating roles across the nonprofit sector, including direct community foundation experience. Prior to joining The Foundation, Carroll was employed at Playworks, a national nonprofit focused on promoting youth recreational activity and fitness, where he served as chief financial officer. Earlier, Carroll held the positions of chief financial officer and chief operating officer for Community Foundation Sonoma County, where he led the financial planning and budgeting functions and staffed an investment committee with oversight of approximately $100 million in assets. He previously served as director of finance and operations for the California Association of Food Banks. Additionally, Carroll worked as research director for the California Budget Project and finance policy director for the California Association of Public Hospitals. Carroll holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also earned a professional accounting certificate. He was conferred a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology by Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
