ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Established in 1950, Valley Beth Shalom is a Conservative synagogue located in Encino. It strives to transform lives through Torah (Jewish learning), Avodah (Jewish worship, celebration and commemoration), Gemilut Hasadim (ethical action and social justice), and Havurah (Jewish fellowship, community, and belonging). It operates a day school, early childhood center, and a religious school.

GRANT PURPOSE

To support professional development, leadership development, and staff wellness strategies responding to the impacts of COVID-19 on synagogue clergy, staff, and lay leadership.

We are grateful for The Foundation's generous support of Valley Beth Shalom's wellness and professional development program. VBS's 'Project Havurah: Building Staff Resiliency & Recovery' will utilize retreats and trainings to educate our staff and leadership in resiliency, trauma-informed care, and work-life balance. By helping our greatest assets take care of themselves, they in return can better take care of our community.
