ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 2001, Unistream aims to narrow the socioeconomic gaps in Israel by training and mentoring high potential youth and young adults from underserved communities and providing them with the opportunity to realize their potential as successful adults. Its flagship entrepreneurship program brings high school students together to formulate new ideas, design products that address unmet needs, and pitch business plans to investors. The program positively impacts academic achievements, social integration, meaningful military service, higher education, and integration into the workforce.

GRANT PURPOSE

To mitigate the economic hardships faced by The Foundation’s grantees in Israel, resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and to help them achieve long-term organizational sustainability.

This generous grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles will enable Unistream to provide a unique opportunity for dozens of underprivileged teens in the peripheral cities of Hadera and Tzfat to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to achieve socioeconomic mobility, which is more important now than ever before given the economic devastation caused by COVID-19. We will provide a unique interactive educational experience in person, virtually, or in a hybrid version of the two, while offering a supportive framework that our youth participants highly value, especially during the ongoing pandemic.
