ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Established in 1964, Stephen S. Wise Temple is a Reform temple located in the Sepulveda Pass. It seeks to make meaning and change the world through acts of loving kindness, mindful study of Torah, worship, and a commitment to the Jewish people and Israel. It operates an early childhood education program, day school, and religious school.

GRANT PURPOSE

To support professional development, leadership development, and staff wellness strategies responding to the impacts of COVID-19 on synagogue clergy, staff, and lay leadership.

During the pandemic, our incredible staff met the challenge of immediately shifting our programs, multiple schools, worship services, and community engagement online, keeping our community engaged and connected. Thanks to the generous support of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles, as we continue to face challenges brought on by COVID-19 and shift to a hybrid model of online and on-site programming, we will be able to address the mental health and wellness of our staff more fully—something that will strengthen workplace culture and allow us to continue to deliver outstanding educational programming, social and cultural initiatives, and worship services to our members and the community at large.
