ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1977, St. Vincent Senior Nutrition Program dba St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (SVMOW) prepares and delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles regardless of age, illness, disability, race, religion, or ability to pay. In addition to providing meals, SVMOW provides crisis intervention, wellness and safety checks, service referrals, and social calls. SVMOW’s is one of the largest Meals on Wheels in the US and serves the City of Los Angeles, delivering thousands of meals a month to seniors who are at risk of hunger, with a current client base of 900 individuals.

GRANT PURPOSE

To expand and sustain a flexible emergency fund to assist an additional 350 low-income older adult clients during the grant period, addressing their most urgent and basic needs to help them stay housed and economically stable.

We are so grateful to the Jewish Community Foundation for their generous support of our Home Sweet Home program. This funding will allow us to meet the most urgent basic needs of the homebound seniors we serve. Together we can help in many ways to ensure their ability to remain living independently as long as possible.
