Founded in 1949, Los Angeles Hebrew High School (LAHHS) provides Hebrew language instruction and Jewish education to non-day school Jewish teens (e.g. teens attending public school, non-Jewish private school, and homeschool) in grades 7 – 12 throughout the entire Los Angeles Jewish community. It offers full-time (two days per week) and Sunday-only programs for students. As a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredited school, LAHHS’ students receive high school foreign language credit.

To support a new program delivery model which will allow students to choose between in-person, online, and hybrid Jewish and Hebrew learning instruction. The program aims to enroll more unaffiliated Jewish students and strengthen teens’ connection to their Jewish identity.

LA Hebrew High is proud and grateful to be a beneficiary of this generous grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of LA. It will help our school pivot to the new societal realities stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic that bears far reaching implications in the realm of education. This grant will enable us to expand our online teaching to include hybrid capabilities without impinging on the success of our program, and thereby continue to serve the non-day school LA Jewish teen population with a program with flexible and accommodating options.
