Legacy LA was founded in 2007 to offer youth positive alternatives to gangs and violence in Boyle Heights. It provides educational, cultural and recreational programs in the Hazard Park Federal Armory site, a 60,000 square-foot space that includes five acres of urban parkland. Programs include teen engagement in community change/advocacy; after-school academic support and mentoring at Murchison Street Elementary School; case management and gang intervention for gang-involved youth; and community service youth-driven projects for gang-involved youth.
GRANT PURPOSE
