ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Established in 1854, Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Los Angeles is a multi-service agency whose goals are to strengthen and preserve individual, family, and community life by providing a wide range of human services to people in the community at every stage of the life cycle, especially those who are poor and disadvantaged.

GRANT PURPOSE

The grant will expand a successful pilot program with frail older adults connecting them to vital services and a support lifeline through technology. Funding will support staffing and provide Chromebooks and internet so elderly clients can access services.

Thanks to The Foundation’s generous support, Jewish Family Service LA will be able to connect homebound older adults to our critical telehealth services, including case management, counseling, physical fitness classes, and social opportunities. Being able to connect by video with their social workers, friends and family will decrease our elders’ isolation and contribute positively to their physical, mental and emotional health. Access to this life-changing technology will not only benefit them during the COVID-19 pandemic, but will keep homebound older adults connected, healthy, and happy long after the pandemic has ended.
