ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Hillel at UCLA is the center of Jewish life for one of the largest Jewish student bodies in the country, serving over 1,800 of the more than 3,000 Jewish students at UCLA. During these times of continued remote learning and social isolation, it is an essential resource for connecting and engaging students.

GRANT PURPOSE

To mitigate the economic hardship resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and to help them achieve long-term organizational sustainability

Thanks to the emergency Covid-19 grant, we are able to focus on the wellbeing of Jewish Bruins in a time when they need us the most. Providing pastoral care, mental health resources, Kosher meals and a stable source of connection to Jewish life helps emerging adults feel less isolated and more engaged. When our students look back on the pandemic, we know they'll recall how their Jewish community showed up with open arms and helped them weather the difficult times. We are so grateful that The Foundation has helped provide stability, allowing us to care for our city's future Jewish leaders.
