ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1998, Foundation for Jewish Camp’s (FJC) mission is to build a strong Jewish future through transformative Jewish summers. FJC helps Jewish camps thrive by gathering data, building new programs, providing operational support, and engaging new camp families. FJC works with over 300 day and overnight camps, serving more than 180,000 youth, teens, and college-aged counselors across North America.

GRANT PURPOSE

The DEI Coaching Project will provide diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training and coaching to Los Angeles area overnight and day camps. The program aims to engage a more diverse population in the Jewish camp experience and ensure that camps are seen as welcoming and diverse Jewish spaces.

The Foundation's generous support enables Foundation for Jewish Camp to provide local LA-area camps with coaching to help them understand their current camper population; learn more about diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) in the camp space; and leverage their camp's Jewish values to inform their DEI work in their own, individual camps. This funding will ensure that camps that serve the Los Angeles Jewish community continue to lead the field in embracing the diversity that enriches their campers’ experiences and demonstrates a communal model for the more than 300 Jewish day and overnight camps in our network, helping to shape the next generation of Jewish leaders.
