ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1998, Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) works to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery through survivor-centered services, advocacy, and public awareness campaigns. It provides survivors with a trauma-informed continuum of care that includes a 24-hour hotline and emergency response service, short-term and long-term housing, therapy, case management, and legal services. It was the first agency to provide social and legal services to survivors of sex and labor trafficking in Los Angeles County, and it opened the country’s first transitional shelter exclusively for victims of human trafficking. Each year it serves 1,500 victims of trafficking and their family members, and it has trained thousands of professionals to identify and serve victims.
