Tzedek America
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Founded in 2014, Tzedek America’s mission is to transform lives, strengthen Jewish identity, and change the world through immersive social justice experiences for youth ages 11-18. It offers service learning day trips, multi-day travel experiences, and curated virtual programming for Jewish Day School and religious school students. During the pandemic, Tzedek America’s reach grew exponentially from serving 2,000 students each year to working with up to 500 students a month through virtual social justice experiences.

To expand Mitzvah Project Central, a program that will connect hundreds of B’nai Mitzvah students with meaningful volunteer service experiences that fulfill their mitzvah project requirements while deepening connections to their Torah portions and Jewish identities. The program seeks to set students on a course of lifelong Jewish learning and engagement guided by social justice.
To expand Tzedek America’s social and racial justice programming to additional synagogues and/or day schools, engaging hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students. The program aims to increase knowledge and awareness of systemic racism among Jewish students in Los Angeles and help them better understand the connection between Jewish wisdom, tikkun olam, and racial justice.
