ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Established in 2018, The People Concern is the result of a merger between Ocean Park Community Center (established in 1963) and LAMP Community (established in 1985). The People Concern works to empower individuals to improve their quality of life and become active participants in the community. Its main activities include housing for individuals experiencing homelessness, medical care, mental health care, outreach and engagement, wellness and life skills, income assistance, substance abuse recovery and prevention, and domestic violence services. In 2018, The People Concern served over 5,000 individuals through all of its programming. The People Concern works in collaboration with FlyawayHomes, LLC, a housing developer founded by People Concern Board Member, Steaven K. Jones, to build permanent supportive housing using private equity.

Scalable Permanent Supportive Housing for Homeless Individuals in Los Angeles

The Scalable Permanent Supportive Housing for Homeless Individuals in Los Angeles project will invest in a partnership between The People Concern and FlyawayHomes to scale the development of permanent supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness, using an innovative model that leverages private investment dollars and modular construction to reduce the cost and time it takes to develop housing.
