The Israel LGBTQ+ Youth Movement (IGY)

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
The Israel LGBTQ+ Youth Movement (IGY) was founded in 2002 and is the largest LGBTQ+ organization in Israel. According to research carried out by the Knesset, more than 50% of at-risk youth in Israel are LGBTQ+. Additionally, LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in Israeli schools and universities are three times more likely to be exposed to physical and verbal violence than their cisgender-heterosexual peers, and every three hours a homophobic case is reported in Israel. IGY runs over 115 social youth groups in 52 cities, providing services such as drop-in centers, a crisis hotline, and specialized groups (e.g. IGY’s disabled persons group and an Arabic-speaking group).
