ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Los Angeles, the Organization for Social Media Safety (OFSMS) is the first and leading consumer protection organization focused exclusively on social media. Through education, advocacy, and technology, OFSMS protects the public from social media-related dangers, including cyberbullying, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, hate, substance abuse, trafficking, and more. Its K-12 school-based interventions teach social media safety skills through student assemblies, parent workshops, and consulting services.

To scale its school-based social media intervention program, which will provide thousands of Jewish students, their teachers and caregivers from Jewish day schools with proven interventions to protect themselves from serious social media threats. The program aims to create a more sustainable infrastructure for social media safety in the Jewish community and protect Jewish students from short and long-term social media harm.
