ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

Founded in 2003, EmpowHer Institute (EmpowHer) empowers girls and young women in marginalized communities to be confident, to break the cycle of poverty, and to be prepared for college and careers, providing them with academic support, training, and mentorship. EmpowHer offers gender-specific, socio-emotional learning courses during the school day for middle school girls and afterschool programming for high school girls in South LA. Since its founding, EmpowHer Institute has served a total of 4,000 girls.
