Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles Elects William R. Feiler to Chair Board of Trustees
February 24, 2017
LOS ANGELES (Feb. 24, 2017)-The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) today announced that its Board of Trustees has elected William R. Feiler as chair. Feiler succeeds Lawrence A. Rauch, who completed his second consecutive two-year term as chair of The Foundation, the largest manager of charitable assets and planned-giving solutions for Los Angeles Jewish philanthropists.
President and Chief Executive Officer Marvin I. Schotland stated: "Bill Feiler personifies and perpetuates The Foundation's legacy of committed lay leaders who have an abiding passion for improving our world. As a longtime donor, trustee and officer, including service as a member of the Executive Committee and as co-chair of our Investment Committee, Bill possesses deep insight and understanding of our mission, our operating practices, and the unique charitable giving landscapes of Jewish and broader communities-locally, nationally and in Israel."
Schotland continued: "On behalf of everyone here, I express deep appreciation to Larry Rauch for his counsel and steady-handed leadership over the past four years, which has been a period of exceptional accomplishment. On Larry's watch, The Foundation surpassed the $1 billion threshold in total assets
under management, awarded $322 million in grants and attracted new contributions of $508 million. We are grateful The Foundation will continue to have the benefit of his judgment and wisdom as a trustee."
Board Chair Feiler stated: "I am honored and humbled to have served alongside and now follow in the path of so many outstanding leaders who have held this post previously, most recently Larry Rauch. They are inspirational individuals and each of them through their stewardship has helped to shape and build the institution as it stands today. I am looking forward to working closely with Marvin Schotland and his management team to continue The Foundation's meaningful work which has made an indelible impact on Jewish Los Angeles and beyond.
"My primary objective as a longtime investor is to help grow The Foundation's endowment which, in turn, will further increase our grantmaking impact in the community. Speaking of community impact, The Foundation possesses a sterling brand position and enjoys a highly favorable reputation among our stakeholders which I hope we can build upon further."
