Arny Gilberg, M.D., PhD, is a prominent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst on the attending staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and an associate clinical professor at UCLA Medical Center, not to mention a visiting professor at major medical institutions worldwide and a sought after expert in his field. He was actually trained by a close friend of Sigmund Freud!
A strong believer in giving back to the community, Dr. Gilberg supports numerous worthy causes and is one of a group of founders of the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Skirball Cultural Center and the Music Center in Los Angeles. His concern about improving the community ultimately led him to investigate charitable giving options with The Foundation.
After exploring various alternatives together with his professional advisor and The Foundation, he decided to create a Donor Advised Fund in 2005. The fund gave him a very practical way to continue his philanthropic giving while reducing taxes on the sale of appreciated securities. It also offered him a way to continue to support his favorite causes in a more planned and strategic fashion.
"I want to help people who lack the financial resources to accomplish what they want to do in life, and The Foundation is a wonderful vehicle to achieve this goal and address the needs of the community. My children and their spouses are all involved in charitable organizations, and The Foundation's advice and expertise helps our family make informed decisions about how our charitable dollars will best be utilized now and in the future."
