Through its Legacy Grants program, The Foundation seeds cutting-edge and strategic initiatives in greater Los Angeles, supports the needs of Jewish institutions, and provides relief assistance during emergencies. Several types of grants are open to a competitive application process, and awards are determined by committee.

In early March 2006, The Foundation created a new category, the Cutting Edge Grants Initiative, which blends together the best attributes of former grant processes. Offering significantly expanded eligibility guidelines these grants aim to inspire and motivate creative thinkers and social entrepreneurs to bring forward significant high-impact transformative projects that address pressing critical needs in our community.

Together, these Foundation Legacy Grants fund a wide variety of programs and projects administered by social service and health agencies, art and cultural organizations, educational institutions and synagogues.

Another type of Legacy Grant is The Foundation’s Restricted Grant, earmarked for specific fields of interest and/or causes pre-selected by donors who have funded these grants. The Foundation then awards these grants to specific programs and causes independent of the RFP process.
