Founded in 2010, TSP is an independent group of volunteer licensed mental health professionals. It provides free counseling and support to military service members who have served or who expect to serve in the Iraq and/or Afghanistan conflicts. Services are also available to the families and other loved ones of service members. TSP provides help to service members and families struggling with issues related to the overwhelming trauma of war including the cycle from pre-deployment to deployment to homecoming and re-entry to civilian life.
Adopt-A-College includes 5 components to assist war veterans attending 6 community colleges - 1) development of curriculum and materials for 30 volunteer therapists that will be presented to them at a series of 4 workshops; 2) In-service seminars and workshops for 200 college faculty and administration; 3) on-site private counseling and support groups for 500 veterans; 4) establishment of liaisons with existing campus veterans groups; and 5) professional evaluation to track outcomes.
