GREEN LA was founded in 2005 to forge a partnership between the nonprofit sector and municipal government to share knowledge and implement pioneering environmental policies. The shared purpose of the coalition of 60-plus organizations is to advance improvements in resource conservation, alternative technology, urban greening, mass transit, and environmental health.
The Greater LA Water Campaign raises awareness about the water crisis in Southern California and promotes sustainable, local solutions. In preparation for potential water rationing and conservation measures due to an eight-year drought, GREEN LA is providing workshops for adults and high school students, disseminating a "Guide to Southern California Water - Issues & Solutions," and working to educate diverse communities and elected officials about the water crisis and potential solutions including infrastructure projects, water conservation, and recycling.
