Founded in 2002, Ein Prat works to impart knowledge about Judaism and Jewish texts, cultivate an appreciation for Jewish learning, and nurture pluralistic Jewish identities among Israel’s young adults. It offers study programs where participants live on-site for a minimum of 5 weeks and as long as 4 months and spend each day learning Jewish texts in a pluralistic Beit Midrash (adult education facility). Ein Prat serves approximately 300 students from secular and traditional backgrounds each year.
Elul provides pluralistic Jewish educational enrichment to 880 Israeli young adults from across the religious spectrum through a 5-week summer intensive program aimed at enriching participants’ Jewish identity and deepening their connection to the Jewish people.
Founded in 2005, Ein Prat is the largest organization in Israel to bring together secular, traditional and religious Israeli young adults for shared Jewish learning. It works to impart knowledge about Judaism and Jewish texts, cultivate an appreciation for Jewish learning and nurture pluralistic Jewish identities. Through its intensive residential Beit Midrash programs, alumni programming and programming impacting the wider Israeli community, Ein Prat has helped to shape Israeli discourse on issues of Jewish identity, Jewish practice and Zionism.
Alumni Network Program builds on the increased Jewish identity fostered through Ein Prat’s intensive study programs, providing an array of Jewish identity programming and activities to alumni and their friends.
Founded in 2006 by the Rashi Foundation, Gvahim provides job training, job placement, business Hebrew courses and mentorship to more than 200 highly-qualified olim (new immigrants) from all over the world each year. Its programs include the Career Development Program, an accelerated program for experienced entrepreneurs; and a pre-citizenship internship program for young leaders.
The Career Development Program provides job training, language classes, mentorship, networking tools and job placement to 75 highly-qualified olim.
Established in 1989, Hamidrasha facilitates the acquisition of Jewish culture among secular Israelis, promotes a meaningful connection with Jewish heritage, and creates a more pluralistic cultural and spiritual landscape in Israel. It trains leaders who influence family life, the school system, and community/public life. Programs connect study, practice and volunteerism with Jewish life. It reaches 40,000 participants a year, working with diverse populations in schools, communities, and adult education settings.
Makom engages 20,000 secular Jewish children, families, teachers and community members in Jewish culture through customized and interconnected educational, community-building and social justice programs.
Founded in 2007, HaShomer HaChadash works to ensure a stronger Jewish presence in the Negev and the Galilee, promote a sense of mutual responsibility among the Jewish people, and uphold the Zionist ideals on which the State of Israel was founded. Through its pre-army program, volunteer guardsmen live on agricultural lands and patrol it from observation posts, preventing fires, theft, physical violence, and slaughtering of herds. Other programs include an agricultural volunteerism program for visitors from around the world, and a post-army program placing young Israelis with jobs in the agricultural sector. Today, HaShomer HaChadash engages over 38,500 volunteers working throughout 190,000 acres of land at 70 locations in the Negev and Galilee.
The Youth Leadership Program enhances participants' Jewish-Israeli identity, civic responsibility, and connection to the land of Israel through volunteering, training, seminars, and instructions.
Founded in 1991, Hillel – The Right to Choose helps thousands of Yotzim – those who leave ultra-Orthodox communities to integrate into wider Israeli society. Its services, which serve approximately 600 individuals per year include: a hotline and drop-in centers; transitional housing; counseling and support services; academic support including tuition aid and career consultation; employment programs; assistance to Yotzim in the military; programming for single-mothers; aid in accessing social services; and community building and peer networking activities.
The Workforce Integration and Facilitation program trains and facilitates full integration of approximately 1,000 Yotzim, ages 18-35, into the Israeli workforce and modern Israeli society.
Founded in 1999, Hut HaMeshulash was established to provide programming, shelter and support to at-risk youth and young adults (ages 14-25) in Jerusalem so that they may reintegrate into society as confident and capable individuals. It runs 3 major programs: a Drop-in Center serving hundreds of alienated at-risk youth 7 days a week; a Residential Home for Young Women, including expectant mothers; and a Residential Home for Young Men for at-risk and homeless men. Specialized services include occupational rehabilitation, therapy, enrichment courses, and basic needs support. Over the past 16 years, 10,000+ youth and young adults have benefitted from Hut HaMeshulash’s programs, and thousands have gone on to lead independent, stable lives.
Inspired Living: Renewing Jewish Identity will provide hundreds of at-risk youth and young adults with a strengthened Jewish identity through engagement with: Jewish text learning, art, music, creative writing, Shabbat ahd holiday-based activities.
Founded in 1984, Israel Elwyn (IE) works to provide individuals with disabilities the means to achieve independence, inclusion in the community and dignity. It offers early intervention, employment, supported living, consultation services and professional training programs for children and adults with developmental and other disabilities throughout Israel. Its goal is to provide individuals with the necessary tools to make decisions about their own lives and to gain greater independence, using the principal of inclusion in all of its work. IE partners in a wide range of round tables focused on determining government policies related to people with disabilities. Through its programs, IE serves more than 3,000 individuals each year.
The Supported Employment Program trains and places an additional 300 individuals with intellectual, physical, sensory, learning and medical disabilities into the workplace and increase the participating pool of employers by 500 over 3 years.
Established by Cisco in 2006 as part of their corporate responsibility effort, IT Works seeks to break the cycle of poverty and unemployment for Israelis living in underserved areas. To this end, it provides the training and technological skills required for employment. Its programs include 1) WEP: employment assistance for women; 2) STAR: employment assistance for men and women and; 3) WorkIT: IT courses for high-school age Druze students. IT Works' curriculum and instruction are based on Cisco's 'Networking Academy,' a program that has been vetted for President Obama's 'Workforce Retraining Initiative'.
Women Empowerment Program provides a minimum of 80 women over two years with technology training to integrate into skilled entry-level employment in the Israeli labor market.
Established in 1982, The Jaffa Institute is a multi-service social agency that provides educational, recreational and social enrichment programs to disadvantaged children and their families. It aims to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty in the greater Jaffa community. The Jaffa Institute has developed 30 initiatives which include a daycare center, an educational center, a cafeteria, a limited health care facility and a center for Ethiopian and Russian immigrant families to convene and integrate into Israeli society. These initiatives serve 4,000 Israelis annually.
Welfare to Wellbeing provides 120 disadvantaged, welfare-dependent women with training to qualify for sustainable employment through the 'skills for work' program, which includes computer courses, job placement services, meetings with a social worker and tutorial sessions.
Founded in 1911, the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles (the Jewish Federation) identifies and funds a broad range of Jewish social service, educational and humanitarian programs. It works to foster a sense of common Jewish purpose; strengthen Jewish constituencies to enhance Jewish identity; meet critical human needs in a Jewish context; and strengthen bonds with Jewish people worldwide. The Israel Terror Fund provides temporary relief and respite to children and their families who live within 25 miles of Gaza including special counseling and trauma services, cash assistance to those in immediate financial need due to damage related to rocket strikes and medicine, home-delivered meals and vital care to seniors and those with special needs.
Founded in 2001, Unistream works to narrow the socio-economic gaps in Israeli society by cultivating high potential youth and young adults from underprivileged communities and providing them with the opportunity to realize their potential as successful adults. With 13 Entrepreneurship Centers, 1,500 participants and 1,000 alumni nationwide, Unistream is a leader in training low-income Israeli youth to be entrepreneurs and successful business people. The skill sets that Unistream provides through teen and young adult programming positively impact academic achievements, social integration, meaningful military service, higher education, choosing a profession and integration into the workforce.
Unistream established one new Entrepreneurship Center that will provide disadvantaged teens with business development, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills training to help them forge meaningful and successful career paths.
Founded in 2009, the Joint Council of Pre-Military Leadership Academies (The Council) works to promote cooperation and define the vision and joint goals of each of the 46 Pre-Military Leadership Academies (Mechinot) serving 3,000 students each year. The Council assists in advancing the study and absorption of the following subject matters in all Mechinot: Zionism and Jewish identity; Jewish peoplehood; social leadership; service in the public and military sectors; acquaintance with the ultra-Orthodox; learning Israeli-Arab language and culture; and becoming familiar with special needs individuals. It also promotes engagement in community volunteer work and support of alumni.
Judaism, Zionism and Jewish Peoplehood for Students of the Pre-Military Leadership Academies (Mechinot) exposes thousands of high school graduates to Jewish literature, holidays, history, practice and communities through participation in a 1-year Mechina program.
Founded in 2002 after the murder by terrorists of 13-year-old boy Koby Mandell, Keren Koby Mandell offers therapeutic programs for families and children of those struck by terror and other tragedies. Its programs offer emotional, physical and spiritual healing and a support network for grieving families. The organization’s flagship program, Camp Koby serves more than 1,000 orphaned youth through camps in the summer, winter and spring.
Camp Koby provides primarily orphaned youth who have suffered loss of an immediate family member due to terror or tragedy with therapeutic services and community.
Founded in 1997, Kolot seeks to expose Israeli leaders from all religious backgrounds to the importance of tikkun olam through the study of Jewish texts. Its purpose is to increase Jewish literacy, allowing for teachings from the Torah to be relevant to modern day life. At the core of Kolot’s philosophy is the belief that Torah study provides the impetus to create a cultural-social debate that is pluralistic, current and relevant. Kolot has 1,800 graduates and close to 500 participants annually from cultural, academic, medical, public service, military, government and business backgrounds.
The Seven Pillars Jewish Identity Program will engage 225-250 young influential Israeli leaders per year in an intensive study program built to strengthen their Jewish identity and provide them with the necessary tools to use Jewish values to guide both their personal and professional lives and to impart these values on their constituents. The program will target lay leaders, young professionals, medical professionals, business leaders, IDF leaders and public service senior managers with a curriculum focused on human equality, relationship to the other, relationship to the land of Israel, and repair and repentance.
Engage approximately 250 young influential leaders per year in an intensive study program built to strengthen their Jewish identity, guide their personal and professional lives, and provide them with the tools to impart the Jewish values learned on their constituents.
Kolot was established in 1997 in response to the growing number of Israeli leadership members who have limited Jewish literacy. It seeks to expose Israeli leaders from all religious backgrounds to the importance of tikkun olam (repairing the world) through the study of Jewish texts. Its lay leadership programs for professionals, including security service professionals, physicians and caregivers, and hi-tech and business professionals, aim to increase leaders' Jewish literacy, allowing for teachings from the Torah to be relevant to modern day life. At the core of Kolot's philosophy is the belief that Torah study provides the impetus to create a cultural-social debate that is pluralistic, current and relevant.
