The Foundation has years of experience working in close partnership with philanthropists to design hand-tailored giving solutions. Here are just three examples:
One area in which the Center helps donors focus and work through is related to intergenerational issues. Longtime Foundation donors Jack (of blessed memory) and Rachel Gindi are a case in point. The Gindis set aside funds for a charitable project to be created and agreed upon by their four children. The Foundation helped them join together, despite their different philanthropic interests, to launch a new counseling program helping at-risk youth in Orthodox Jewish high schools.

When it comes to philanthropy, we encourage our children to be independent. I hope that rather than just faithfully executing our wishes, they'll make their own philanthropic decisions. The Foundation has been instrumental in helping our children take on their philanthropic responsibility by showing them how to work together effectively."

The Ziering Family Foundation, a family support organization at the Jewish Community Foundation, was established by donors Sigi (of blessed memory) and wife Marilyn Ziering, and involves their four adult children. In 2011, the Zierings created a 1:1 challenge grant of $250,000 for the Natural Resources Defense Council, to support its human health, environmental justice, sustainable communities and ocean protection work. This grant, which has been fully matched, demonstrates Mrs. Ziering's willingness to follow her children's lead in funding and motivating others to support the organization's vital role an environmental leader.
By researching organizations and initiatives - and also bringing new opportunities to my attention - The Foundation helps me invest my philanthropic dollars with confidence and enables me to engage my children more effectively in causes they are passionate about."
- Marilyn Ziering
Doris Factor Endowment Fund
Philanthropist Doris Factor (of blessed memory) devoted much of her life to supporting causes about which she and her family cared deeply. The Doris Factor Endowment Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation provides an ongoing source of funding for many of the organizations and programs to which Doris was devoted during her lifetime, ranging from hospitals and medical research to elder care and the arts.

In a multi-generational family like ours, with a wide range of charitable interests, The Foundation is an ideal partner to assist us in focusing our philanthropy and enhancing the impact of our giving."
