Kenneth A. August was the leader of the U.S. Media and Entertainment practice and a vice chairman for Deloitte LLP, one of the largest professional services firms in the world. He has recently retired from Deloitte and currently serves on boards and advises mid-sized companies. In his former role, Mr. August led a multidisciplinary team of over 300 senior industry practitioners and had oversight of a portfolio of nearly 500 clients in every segment within the media and entertainment industry. Mr. August rejoined Deloitte in 1998 to serve as the managing principal of Entertainment/New Media Consulting. He subsequently served in a number of national and regional leadership positions including managing director of the Pacific Southwest Solutions Consulting practice, national practice leader for Technology, Media and Telecommunications in Solutions Consulting, and ultimately as the U.S. leader for Deloitte's Media and Entertainment practice. He was previously with Deloitte from 1975-1992 where, as a principal, he headed the firm's Entertainment Practice, focusing on business planning, acquisition analyses and strategy. In addition, he was a national practice director and a member of the Management Committee of the U.S. Consulting Practice. Immediately prior to rejoining Deloitte, he was a partner at the law firm of Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca & Fischer, the preeminent entertainment transactional law firm in the U.S. He previously served as chair of the Finance Committee of The Foundation. Mr. August was a member of the West Coast Advisory Board of the Natural Resources Defense Counsel, and is the vice chair of the USA Swimming Foundation, and on the Board Development Committee of the Friends of the Saban Free Clinic. He is also a board member and the Compensation Committee chair of the Bobrick Corporation, on the Advisory Board for Broadcast Facilities, Inc. and is a member of the Alexis De Tocqueville Society Cabinet. Mr. August was a National Merit Scholar at Stanford University and received his law degree from the Columbia University Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He and his wife, Patricia, have two married daughters.
